I was hoping you might be able to help out with something really important.
It's almost the end of the fiscal year and Goucher's Annual Fund is in great need of our support. I wouldn't be asking you this if it wasn't for a really important cause and if I didn't truly believe in that cause.
During my time at Goucher I met so many amazing people, made so many life long friends, and got a stellar education. My time there was instrumental in shaping the person I am today. I give to the Annual Fund because of the love I have for Goucher College and the great experience I had there. It's not just my way of saying "thanks," but it also ensures that Goucher continues to be the great school that we know it to be.
Will you join me in this important cause and give whatever you can to the annual fund? You don't need to worry about the amount. All that matters is that you give. Any amount will work!
All you have to do is go to this website: www.goucher.edu/gift
Also, in the comment box just mention that you are responding to this post. It's really easy and goes such a long way!
Thank you so much and I wish you all the best!

RMC to go co-ed?
Randolph Macon's trustees voted to admit men beginning in the fall of 2007 - that's next year's freshman class. Many students boycotted, with support of "some alumnae."
The boycott's now on hold now that the trustees have agreed to give the research a "second look." At least that's what the student president of the boycotting group says.
RMC's enrollment is 712. The administration says admitting men will achieve "more financial stability," according to the article. Some alumnae are threatening to sue.
If the trustees are intent on bringing in men next fall, the timetable is very very short for everyone. High school seniors are already knee-deep in the college application process. Does anyone remember Goucher's timetable back in '86? We only had three guys in that first class and a few dozen in the second. Here's a link to the short article.

I admit it...
I haven't done a darn bit of promotion or posting here.
I got my Destination Goucher
brochure in the mail for Alumnae/i Weekend, and I'm *very* tempted. I'd very much like to see the campus and meet the students of today. However, with everything else going on (i.e., a wedding to plan) this year, I don't think I'm going to make it. Besides, 2007 is my 15-year reunion (to Larry: can you believe it?)
Anyone planning on going?

Several, I guess. Falling asleep while walking to class after four all-nighters in a row trying to get The Q
put together. Hot Steel. Any Conner party with Rob's jungle juice, though I don't really remember those nights very well. The Where the Hell Is Goucher? party where we came up with the brilliant idea of charging a buck for a coat check; we made a mint that night. And walking through Meyerhoff just before it opened.
Introducing the incredible, the amazing, the one, the only...

Probably watching Lev have a girl hump his face while they were "dancing" at my freshman Blind Date Ball. Or doing all the different plays at the Gooch. Or GIG. Any GIG, but last year especially because I brought my baby brother (who's 20), and he had a ball.
So I'm terribly unemployed and poor. Anyone wanna hire me? ;) Current Mood: cheerful

Favorite Goucher Memory: I think the funniest thing I ever saw happen was during this prank war on my hall freshman year. Lev was always messing with Dave's stuff while Dave was at his campus job - Lev would go up to the information desk, and say "Helllllloooooooo Dave", whenever he did something. One time, Dave came back to his room and found that ALL HIS STUFF WAS FLIPPED UPSIDE DOWN! Desk, bed, fridge ... even the drawers in his dresser, on which Dave had written "Helllloooo Dave" on the topside. We sure had a blast cleaning up, but I have never laughed so hard!
Although my friend wearing a tux and hot pink keds to Gala did come pretty close!
I also remember fondly (though not so fondly at the time) working on our group project for Software Engineering class late nights in Thormaan and the X-Lab in Hoffberger. The day after we finished my team mate and I were walking back from Thormaan around 9 or 10 ... and something just didn't feel right. It took us a while to realize what was different - we were used to seeing the sun already up as we walked back to our dorms! Current Mood: cheerful

Studying for finals behind the library and looking up from my Norton Anthology to discover that I was surrounded by peacefully grazing deer. While they never came closer than about 5 or 10 feet, the deer seemed to be quite accepting of my presence in what I can only assume was a favorite grazing spot.
Oh, and Hat Parties in the Costume Shop, of course. (Yes, I still have a hat collection).
Greetings and salutations.
I stumbled across the goucherian
community and felt a burning need for an alumnae/i community. And so, I created one.
